TONIGHT - FILM SHOWING OF "CHILDREN OF MEN" to raise funds for police brutality protest (see below). totally free, but since it's a fundraiser we tryna get those funds you know. hook it up. NEW COLLEGE OF SANTA ROSA (in railroad square behind the hipster coffee shop). TONIGHT, 7PM
SATURDAY - FUNDRAISER FOR FREE MIND MEDIA, THE ONLY COMMUNITY CENTER IN SANTA ROSA THAT ISN'T RUN BY RICH WHITE PEOPLE! (at least for now.....)
COME BUY LOCAL ART, EAT LOCAL FOOD, LISTEN TO PREMIER JC NEIGHBORHOOD HIPPIE BAND, THE CRUX!!!! (theyre hella sick.) shit's gonna be off the hiz. there's gonna be clothes, books, raffle, auction, revolutionary bingo, dope people, brain-numbing liquid if you wanna take a break from thinking for a couple hours. NEW COLLEGE, 5PM.
MONDAY - PROTEST, MARCH, AND RALLY AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY. 4PM AT SOUTHWEST COMMUNITY PARK (hearn ave and burbank ave.). if you get off work at 5, meet up at the dollar tree (west ave and sebastopol ave) to meet up with the march.
we are protesting local law enforcement's "SHOOT FIRST, ASK QUESTIONS LATER, AND NEVER ANSWER ANY UNLESS IT'S FROM THE PRESS DEMOCRAT" policy, we are protesting their collaboration with the feds in pulling over brown people with no criminal charges to see if they can deport them, we are protesting the militarized MAGNET division of the sheriff's department, which is supposed to the "gang enforcement task force" but is really the "latino youth task force," we are protesting the cops effectively shutting down any culture that dares to peek its head anywhere near downtown.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 27TH - COMMUNITY-LED FORUM TO DISCUSS POLICE BRUTALITY AND POLICE ABUSE
Tired of these muthafuckin photo op events. we're getting together without the cops* to discuss our complaints, frustrations, ideas, and solutions to deal with these cops. BLACK PANTHER O.G. BIG MAN ELBERT WILL BE THERE. SAT OCT. 27TH 10AM, AT THE LABOR CENTER ON CORBY AVE.
*cops are not invited, but look out for the only old white dude wearing a hawaiian shirt.
